Kimi Komisarof is an executive coach, trainer, and consultant specializing in communication in organizations including intercultural communication, communication skills and strategies, as well as conflict resolution. She is a coach certified by Coach 21 (accredited by the International Coach Federation) and Shougai Gakushu Kaihatsu Zaidan. She is also a lecturer at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, teaching intercultural communication.
A native of Japan, Kimi lived abroad for five years in the United States and one year in the United Kingdom. Prior to her sojourn in the U.S., Kimi worked for a Japanese manufacturing company as a coordinator for developing international training programs. In the U.S., she managed a branch office at an international education company. In this position she was responsible for human resource management as well as cross-cultural training.
Kimi has designed and conducted programs in intercultural communication, coaching skills, assertive communication, communication skills, diversity, team building, and leadership in many large multinational corporations, educational institutes, and government organizations in both the U.S. and Japan. She has done leadership training for many global multinational companies in the hotel, apparel, and financial industries. To customize her workshops and enable her participants to more effectively achieve key learning outcomes, she has adopted specifically for Japanese audiences a broad variety of training programs that were originally developed in the US. She has also coached executives from diverse countries living in Japan as well as Japanese executives and managers in various industries, helping them to strengthen both their understanding of cultural differences and their communication skills.
Kimi holds an M.A. degree in intercultural relations from Lesley College (Massachusetts, USA) and a B.A. degree in English Literature from Doshisha University (Kyoto, Japan). She served as a guest lecturer at the Institut Superieur d’Agriculture’s (ISA) Winter Institute for Intercultural Communication in Lille, France. She also co-authored the book, Intercultural Communication Workbook published by Sanshusha in 2001.
