Midori was born in Japan and moved to France at the age of 9, subsequently living in France, Japan, and China (Hong Kong and Shanghai). Having experienced diverse cultures, she currently excels as a cross-cultural consultant and facilitator for management & sales training in Tokyo, bridging the gap between Japanese and French cultures.
She graduated from Dupanloup local school in Paris (elementary, middle, and high school), Paris-Sorbonne University, and INALCO, where she deepened her knowledge of Japanese language and culture. In 1987, she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Japanese and relocated to Tokyo at the age of 23.
In Tokyo, Midori gained valuable work experience in Japanese companies. At World Co., Ltd., she handled press for French designer Chantal Thomas, showcasing her versatility. She also served as a coordinator and event manager at Alcan, a pioneer in importing French luxury food products.
In 1995, she established Midori Maki SARL in Paris, venturing into consulting and interpretation services. Leveraging her network and experience in Tokyo, she started receiving requests for interpretation and coordination during training sessions and meetings for Japanese companies in France. Her expertise spans across fashion & luxury, food & beverage, and beauty & cosmetics industries.
From 2000 onwards, spending 15 years in Hong Kong and Shanghai, she deepened her understanding of cross-cultural nuances. She worked as an interpreter for training seminars at luxury brands like Chanel, Perrier-Jouët, and Louis Vuitton. Since September 2020, she has been active in Tokyo as a cross-cultural consultant, training coach, and communication facilitator for Japan-France exchanges. She also conducts courses on understanding the Japanese market for students at ISMAC, a French business school specializing in Asia.
