Born and raised in Japan to a Japanese mother and an American father, and educated in the US, Nina Michels-Kim has lived and worked in Switzerland since 1995. She understands the complexities of cross-cultural business.
With over 25 years of combined experience in corporate finance, healthcare, and consulting, Nina brings a strong international perspective. She began her career in controlling/FP&A roles at Sandoz, Novartis, and Merck, later founding her own consultancy. She has led international projects, including serving as Director of Partnerships for Japan and Korea at a global association, collaborating with C-level executives, academics, and industry leaders.
Nina is an International Coaching Federation (ICF) ACC coach, offering culturally sensitive coaching worldwide. As a Certified Solutions Academy Coach, she helps technical experts become strategic leaders. Based in Zurich, she frequently travels between Europe, the US, and Japan, helping professionals succeed in cross-border business.
Nina lectures and serves on the Steering Committee for the FP&A Program at the Japan Association of CFOs and was recently appointed to the Global Board of Directors for the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
She holds a BA with Honors in International Relations from Pomona College and a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Nina is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis (CSCA), bilingual in English and Japanese, and proficient in German.
