Takashi Kawamoto is a consultant and advisor specializing in strategy, cross-border M&A, governance, and corporate communications. He supports Japanese companies expanding overseas as well as global companies engaging with Japan, helping executives address complex cross-border challenges with practical and actionable solutions.

His career spans diplomacy, consulting, international organizations, corporate leadership, and policy advisory. A former diplomat with Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Takashi went on to Deloitte Tohmatsu Consulting, where he was named “Best Consultant of the Year,” and later served as a Policy Advisor to the Government of Japan and the Liberal Democratic Party. He also worked as a strategy consultant for the World Economic Forum, at the United Nations in Brussels on multilateral policy, and at Brunswick Group, where he was a founding member of its Tokyo office and later served as Director and U.S.–Japan Business Lead in the U.S. In this role, he advised corporate leaders on cross-border communications and stakeholder challenges and was also active in the U.S.–Japan business community, serving on the Board of the Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of New York and leading a joint research initiative published with Keidanren USA.

Most recently, Takashi was Director of Corporate Planning and M&A Strategy at Kansai Paint Co., Ltd. headquarters in Osaka, leading cross-border M&A, post-merger integration, corporate transformation, and governance across 80 subsidiaries worldwide. Today, as Japan Intercultural Consulting’s Indiana Representative, he advises clients on cross-cultural alignment, post-merger integration, and training to support the success of Japanese companies in the U.S.

Takashi holds a Master of Global Studies from Missouri State University, a B.A. in Intercultural Communications from Hosei University, and General Certificate of Achievement from the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School. He has lived and worked extensively in Japan, the U.S., and Europe, and is fluent in both Japanese and English.
