Timothy Ewing is a communication and engagement specialist, trainer, and coach with over two decades of experience developing professionals and leaders in multicultural environments across Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies from the University of Washington’s Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies and earned certification in TESOL from INTESOL International in the United Kingdom. Tim also holds professional certifications as a DiSC® Trainer and as a Certified Coach through the Coach Training Alliance.
Tim began his career in Japan more than thirty years ago and has since held leadership and learning roles across industries including pharmaceuticals, broadcasting, e-commerce, and technology. His early experience in English training and cross-cultural communication at Janssen Pharmaceutical (Johnson & Johnson Group) evolved into a long-term focus on leadership and organizational development. At Johnson & Johnson, he facilitated the rollout of the “Energy for Performance in Life” (formally ‘Corporate Athlete’) program in Japan and led large-scale learning initiatives that reached thousands of employees nationwide.
He went on to serve as Learning & Development Partner at QVC Japan, where he redesigned onboarding and development programs for new graduates and mid-career hires, creating long-term learning pathways that enhanced engagement and retention. As L&D Program Manager for ByteDance (Japan/Korea/APAC), Tim developed and scaled leadership and communication programs across markets, including “Learning Week” and an assertive communication course tailored for APAC professionals.
Having lived and worked in Japan for more than three decades, Tim brings deep cultural insight to his work with clients throughout APAC. He conducts bilingual workshops and one-on-one coaching in English and Japanese, and his mission-driven approach blends practical communication tools with values-based leadership and Ikigai-inspired reflection to drive both professional and personal growth.
