After beginning her career at UBS, Maki moved into the startup world, joining LPL Financial Services’ Japan subsidiary as Head of Training and Marketing. She went on to play key roles in the early development of several major international firms in Japan, including Hartford Life Japan and Fidelity Investments. She later co-founded B4F K.K., a fashion and lifestyle private-sale e-commerce company, serving as Head of Sales and Marketing.

In 2015, Maki led the launch of the Japan office for UK luxury fashion platform Farfetch as Managing Director. She built the organization from the ground up and expanded the team to 40 people, establishing Farfetch as a major presence in the Japanese market.

In 2018, Maki shifted her focus to leadership development and founded Ignite Coaching and Consulting in Singapore, where she provided market entry consulting and executive coaching. Since 2021, she has been based in Silicon Valley, further expanding her work with leaders and organizations in the U.S. and internationally. Also founded SAIGE House, dedicated to supporting young entrepreneurs with her husband from 2023.

Maki currently serves as an External Board Member of Sun* Inc., a Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime-listed digital creative studio. She previously served as an External Board Member of CARTA Holdings, Inc. until its acquisition by NTT DOCOMO in late 2025. She is also a Director and Board Member of the Zen2.0 Foundation, which organizes Zen and mindfulness conferences in Kamakura, Japan.

She holds a BA in Policy Management from Keio University and an MBA from INSEAD. Maki is a Certified Professional Co-Active® Coach and an Associate Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation. She is also a certified practitioner of The Leadership Circle, a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® practitioner, and has completed core training in Organization and Relationship Systems Coaching. In addition, she is a Certified Teacher of Mindfulness-Based Strategic Awareness Training (MBSAT), helping leaders develop clarity and focus in decision-making.
